Doll Quilt Swap sneak peek and advice needed

Between finishing my zig-zag quilt and working on my Doll Quilt Swap quilt, I have quilting on the brain. I have a lot of old quilting books and there are so many ideas floating through my head. I started on my doll quilt a few nights ago after finally narrowing down my options. I ended up choosing a kaleidescope pattern which was inspired by an old quilt I had seen called a "strip circle." I really love how these blocks came out, but now I'm not sure if I want to remove the white corners and replace it with all black.

What do you think? I keep going back and forth and I just can't decide. I think the black makes the colors pop, but I also like the contrast the white brings.

It's really a sewing dilemma. Hopefully you guys will have some insight. I need it!

What a neat pattern! I really like how the black sets off the colors--the white gets a little lost for me. Not sure how much work it would be to replace the white, but I think I prefer the black. Just one opinion!

I like the white, but that may just be because of my strong aversion to black. I'd rip out the black and use white on all of them. I love the pattern and the pinks and greens, though.

I need a pic of the 4 white blocks together and 4 black blocks together. Like the first photo, but with only one option in each collage.

It is a hard choice.

Also I should admit that the print in the black is more attractive to me than plain white, so maybe a white print?

I love the block. I think the black sets it off better.

I vote for the white. But that is just my gut, I have always loved quilts that have some great bright colors and are framed with white. That is just me though. I think the black would look great too but I think it blends in more with the block and the white sets the block out.

Good luck that is a tough one!

Oh boy - looks like your responses are going to be 50/50!

I like the top photo because there's a nice contrast, having the white and the black.

I say - put the blocks away for a day and don't look at them. Then go back and go with what your gut tells you when you first see them again.

I think it depends. The white looks very fresh. The black is a little more serious. I would maybe try a black that's a little less "busy" and see what that looks like.

Either way, I think it'll be beautiful. The black makes the colors more vibrant. The white softens them. My personal choice would be the black. :)

the black accentuates the other colors and makes them pop. while the white is nice, it lends a more romantic/antique/shabby chic feel to the square. i suppose it all depends on what mood you hope to strike with the doll quilt. oh do pick the black, it's just so much sassier!

I go for the white. It makes the colors much brighter and fun. Hard choice though!

they are both great and really pop the colors in different ways. i do like the white better though!

I would go with one or the other. For a doll quilt, I'd say go for the white. For a grown up, I'd opt for black. Sounds like your getting opposing responses either way.

how lovely. I think I would vote white, I love the clean crisp look of the white.
both would be beautiful though

The black makes the colors really stand out and look bright. The white blecds in and seems to wash out the vividness of your pattern choices.
