soon to be quilt

February was my month for the Pieced Together Quilting Bee. I sent out an assortment of Flea Market Fancy fabrics and the solid white, blue, and red and instructed the participants to make an improvisational style block. It was so fun to get each block back and see what each person came up with. This will eventually be a quilt for Isaiah. I was originally thinking that I'd sash each block with white, but now I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

Wow, looking at all of these is so inspiring-- you picked such great fabric! Anything you decide on for sashing will be great. Are you going to do any borders? It could end up quite large!

Oh, this is so much fun to look at! Your eyes can't stop traveling around it, looking at all of the wonkiness :) Love it. I dunno on the sashing - I see what you mean about the white - maybe a lime or yellow?

i really like how the bright blue and red solids look with the patterned pieces! great choices! i think it will look great with or without sashing. i know that's not much help. :)

I think it would look great with a white sashing. It would show off the individual blocks and make the colours stand out better. Looks like everyone had fun with this.

It's up to you but for me I would add even just a little white to really make the blocks pop!! They look very fun. It also depends on how big you want it. Like your choice of fabric.

I'd sash them. Maybe in a pretty green? Or white.

I think the white sashing would look great and help keep the individual blocks separate. I think without it, they are pretty busy and it might be hard to spot where you move from one block to the next.

I always like the idea of white sashing to set off quilt blocks ... but something about the allover craziness of this quilt just kind of begs to be left crazy ... you know what I mean? It's super apparent that with all the blocks together it's a little disheveled and wonky ... but I think that's what gives it so much charm! It would lose some of that with the sashing in between ... I dunno, just a different view of it!

I agree that sashing in white would make the blocks pop. It looks great. I can't wait to see it all together.

At first I thought no, but after I look at for a while, I do think a small white sassing would be great to give each block it's own identity.

I have to agree with Erin. The white would make it pop but the craziness is so much fun especially for a little boy.

Oh, I love how it is going to turn out! I think that a thin white sashing would be really cool!

Yours was really fun to do!

I say go with the white sashing - it will make those blocks pop. Or some other light color would be good too - light blue, yellow?

I just stumbled onto your blog and I love this WIP. I would vote for a really thin white sashing if you decided to go with one...

I think a white sashing would make each individual block stand on their own and pop....he's going to love it when it's done...lucky little one!
