Swallowtail
For the first time, I finally finished a handmade gift before the intended day. A miracle in its own right. This was my first foray into lace knitting and I have to say it was pretty fun. It's the Swallowtail pattern by Evelyn Clark. The only problem is it turned out much, much smaller than I thought it would. It's more of a scarf than a shawl and I'm not sure its recipient would like something scarf-size. Since I have more of this yarn, I'm knitting another one with larger needles and probably adding more repeats. This probably won't be done in time, so I'm right back to giving gifts late. Oh well, one can try, right? And this picture of me? Taken by Isaiah, our new house photographer. Not the most flattering, but I'm impressed that it's pretty much in focus.

it's beautiful katie! love the color!!
It's very pretty! I love that color. :)
Beautiful! That makes me want to pick my lace shawl back up and finish it. I have really worried that it will turn out small so I keep putting off finishing it. I love the color of the yarn. I hope you feel REALLY proud of yourself! I think a lace shawl is quite an accomplishment.
That is just gorgeous! I love lace knitting (I don't do it - I just admire it!). Great job!
That's very beautiful. Just throw a button on there and use it this winter like you have modeled. That would look super chic paired with a tailored gray wool coat.
It looks great! I've just dived into knitting this year and I'm hooked on lace knitting particularly! I haven't tried the swallowtail yet, but it's in my (incredibly too long) queue. :)
Very pretty! I love it as a scarf! That lace is just lovely!
So pretty Katie! The recipient is one lucky girl.
shall or scarf, I can only knit and purl, and this absolutely gorgeous. The color and everything about it is perfect. I love reading your blog.

Regardless of the size, it's gorgeous! You should be proud! I love the color, and speaking as an expert on these things, it is very Anthropologie-ish...;)
Small, maybe.
Beautiful, definitely!
