pattern writing

I've really been wanting to write a pattern for my Ruffle Wristlet for a long time now. For the past couple of days, I've finally started the process. I figure that I could offer a PDF on etsy with detailed pictures. I have to give credit to those that write patterns. It is much more difficult that it seems. You have to make sure you give every measurement and detail that goes into making it, so that the "maker" can have a nice finished project. In general, writing is very difficult for me, so doing this is really a challenge. Hopefully I'll be able to finish up this weekend so I can have some pattern testers give me some good critiques!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'm looking forward to a weekend without any trips to the hospital. Oh, I almost forgot to mention! John had a PET scan yesterday and the results were very good! His cancer is responding to the pre-transplant chemo/new stems cells and some of the lesions are now PET negative and the rest have shown great progress since the las scan. We are just so relieved, as you can imagine. Thanks to all that have been sending their thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate them! You can read more on John's blog, as he is always better at explaining all this.

Excited to think of a pattern for the little wristlet! It really is a wonderful little thing! I use mine often and would be excited to be able to make a few more for myself and to give as gifts! ;)
So very thankful for the good report that your hubby received!

I totally feel your pain. I find it very difficult to write anything too. It's amazing how much work a pattern is to get finished. I guess that's why I've only done two. It's a major commitment and I'm sure yours will do well. I wish you luck with it.

And HOORAY for John!! WooHoo

writing patterns is a bit tricky. i have a few now and a few more coming. After all that work though it is fun to see what combinations people put on the item. love that. just more inspiration!!

Great news about John!

It's so much fun to come up with a new pattern. It is very hard to get it all down on paper so it is easy for others to understand. I have the same problem when I do crochet patterns. I am always amazed at those who write sewing patterns.

If you need an extra tester..... ;)

So glad to read that John"s test results were so good. Prayers continue.

I know what you mean about writing pattern directions. It is a real skill. I'd be glad to test it for you when you finish it.

I've been working on a pattern for my bell purse too - very slowly, I might add. I wish you the best in getting yours finished.

And hooray for the news about John!

Hi Katie. I saw another Katie and just had to stop by. I'm so sorry to hear about the hard times in your family - I'm hoping for the best for all of you. Your Ruffle Wristlet looks beautiful, especially in that fabric. Good luck with making a tutorial (those are never so fun to put together compared to the designing and making of an item).
