DSQ #7

I couldn't resist signing up for Doll Quilt Swap 7. I just love making these small quilts and getting one in return. I think this is the 4th round that I've participated in. As fate would have it, I have no tests or quizzes this week, so I thought I'd get a head start on my quilt. I didn't want to get too behind. This is what I've come up with so far. My original idea was to put white circles at some of the points, but now that it's together I'm not sure if I want to. So, any opinions? The circles in the picture are just freezer paper, so if I did end up doing the circles, they'd be more uniform and they would not be see through. I look forward to hearing what you have to say! (sorry for the blurry photo!)

I also wanted to give you guys a little update on John. He had a scan last week and received really great results. There is very little sign of cancer left and we are so thrilled. Now he's dealing with a skin rash from what is called Graft versus host disease. He's really being a trooper, but I know he'd be much happier if it would just go away! So, if you want to send a little prayer his way that the doctors find the right treatment for that, I'm sure he'd be most appreciative.

the circles aren't bad. just shouting out a few ideas...maybe a little flower in the centers/ yo-yo in the center instead of circles/ birds/ not specifically in the center, but randomly placed. too much? have fun playing around!

I like the circles... I'm imagining them as yoyo's :)

I have himm in my daily prayers as I know he has been struggling with the GVHD for some time now. It is so miserable.

Love the doll quilt. I like the white circles, but am not sure that I like the symmetrical look with all five. How about maybe three at a more random spacing? I don't know....it looks great either way.

I'm voting for no white circles.

I'm so happy for you and John to have great news. I am wishing the best on the clearing of the rash for him as well because even small annoyances are worrysome and significant to those that have them.

I love those little circles! They seem to give it a bit more personality! ;) So thankful that John's results were good! Hoping that the rash clears soon!

Oh absolutely do the white circles! I think they enhance the string pieced blocks and bring out secondary patterns. They give your eye somewhere to rest which is important with scrappy quilts. Do it! Do it! And that is great news about your hubby :)

Hi Katie! I'm sorry I haven't responded to your email - wedding planning has kicked into high gear (I'm starting to wonder when this will ever be over - though I'm sure I'll regret that after it is over). Anyhow, I'm so glad to hear about the good results!!!

I like the quilt both ways, but I think the circles do add a nice visual element. :)
