here goes nothing...
Keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully with a few minor adjustments, this pattern will be able to accommodate some large friends of mine. I don't want to put on a show at John's cousin's wedding. Anyone have any experience adjusted for a larger bust? I am trying it out on an old sheet first.

I would think view B would accommodate a larger bust fairly easily. I think you are wise to make it from a sheet first. I'm not sure how you feel about this option - but you could always put a nice tee or tank underneath. I love that pattern - I might have to go get it!
I'm not help, I don't really sew clothes, but that pattern is so cute, good luck with the sheet version!
Hi Katie,
I am new to your blog and hope I can help!
I know the tendency for larger busted women is to wear higher necks, but it actually makes your bust look larger than wearing a V or Scoop neck. I *think* the gathering on the B view might draw more attention to bustiness...you may double check me on this.
BTW, I wish I was speaking from experience, but my experience in this matter is from a little sister who is not my little sister in the area of bust size!
I hope this helps - LOVE the fabric!
I've got that pattern! But I have nearly the exact opposite issue to deal with, so sadly I don't have any advice. I just say go for it, and I'm sure it will turn out lovely!
can't wait until you get it done! i have some friends who tend to be a problem as well!
I also have "large friends." :) One really helpful reference I go to is Debbie Cook's various tutorials for FBAs (full bust adjustments). This one, for
empire waist dresses, may be helpful.
I can't wait to see how it turns out. That fabric is beautiful. Best of luck!
Sorry, I don't have that problem. :-)
Yes, I can probably help. I'm supposed to be writing an article about this very issue for SMS at the moment. I always have to do a full bust adjustment when making tops. Let me go look at the line drawings of the pattern...
Love that Amy Butler fabric - good luck with the dress. I have the same problem in finding clothes that fit well in the bust area without looking large everywhere else. I will be interested in your responses as I think I will start making my own clothes so that I can get a better fit.
I can't wait to see how this turns out, I'd love to learn how to make clothes but am a little intimidated by the whole concept. I also have "large friends" to deal with as you know, I'm sure it will work out for you.
That's great fabric, Katie! : )
I've been thinking about giving that pattern a whirl but have been holding off for the same reason. Can't wait to see how your first one turns out!
Can't wait to see the dress. Happy Mother's Day!
sorry i have never had that particular problem! it looks like you have solved it now tho! i think the dress will be really pretty
