Holiday Mode

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I'm in full holiday mode. I want to decorate, craft, bake, you get the idea. Although I have yet to do any of the above. Hopefully I'll get around to making the tree skirt before we actually get the tree. And I've already strained my vocal chords singing Mariah's "All I want for Christmas". I probably shouldn't have admitted that, although I know I'm probably not the only one!

I've been wanting to make travel bag, or a "dop kit" as John's family calls it, forever. Men are always so hard to make gifts for, so I thought this might be a good one. I'm really happy with the way it came out. I used some thrifted wool fabric, and some suede from a thrifted skirt. I'm toying around with the idea of putting an applique on the side, just so that it doesn't look so plain. I don't know, we'll see.

Anyway, this one is up for sale on etsy if your interested. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know mine was great!

You arent the only one to sing at the top of your lungs. To get me in the holiday spirit I watch Love Actually and dance around and sing to it.

Thanks too for the great guy gift idea, I have a few that are being hard to shop for especially since I want everything to be handmade!

I love it. It's hard to sew things that don't look girly. This is perfect.

My family calls it a dop kit too. I wonder where that came from? I love the idea and the fabric, very handsome.

Hi,
I really like your post. I have very similar hobbies and crafty passions :) Hopefully when I get a chance to borrow a sewing machine I can start making my ideas a reality. My hubby and I just bought a house too, so I feel your pain.

Blessings to you and your family.

I'm loving the dopp kit (we call them ditty bags around here). That's a perfect crafty man-gift!

What a great idea! Nick left his "toiletry bag" in Newport, RI. (he blames me because I always take care of everything, hmpf). I think I should make him a new one for Christmas. yay

Great minds! That is what I am making the men in my life for the holidays.
And btw -- your prize from the In Stitches pool was returned to me for too little postage. So sorry! It went back out today.
